DRIVER LOGO: JB90 | BRITISH GT
Jack Brown Racing - 2025
Overview
Jack Brown is a distinguished British racing driver renowned for his success in the British GT Championship's GT4 category. Over four seasons, he has secured eight race victories, establishing himself as one of the series' most accomplished GT4 competitors. In 2024, Brown clinched the GT4 championship title alongside teammate Zac Meakin, driving for Optimum Motorsport. For the 2025 season, he continues with Optimum Motorsport, teaming up with Marc Warren to defend his title.
The goal was to develop a unique and recognizable driver’s logo for Jack Brown Racing’s JB90 brand, ensuring a bold, high-performance aesthetic that reflects the team’s identity.
Challenge
The biggest challenge was creating a visually striking mark that balances individuality with professional motorsport branding. The logo needed to be versatile for applications across race suits, helmets, vehicles, and merchandise while maintaining strong brand cohesion.
Solution
To address this, I designed a logo that brings together traditional calligraphic lettering, ambigram-esque aesthetic & the driver's style preferences. At pace, providing something that will resonate with fans and scale easily across a variety of mediums.
Typography & Lettermark Design – Crafted a bold, modern JB90 lockup that's easily identifiable and flexible in arrangement, allowing for easy visibility beyond the racetrack..
Scalability & Application Versatility – Designed the logo for seamless application across digital, print, and merchandise materials
Concepts & Deliverables - Provided multiple renditions & iterations of the lock-up, along side realistic mock-ups, as well as an assortment of vector files for production.
Outcome
The final result is a distinctive, memorable driver's logo that strengthens JB90’s presence in motorsports, enhancing brand recognition, fan engagement, and sponsorship appeal. The logo’s adaptability ensures consistent visibility across race-related team gear. vehicles & promotional materials.
Toolset
A blend of traditional design techniques, hand sketching, and digital tools, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and MidJourney for generative mock-ups.
Next Steps
Further refine design language to better fit driver's personal taste & aesthetics. Iterate, "flip" and enhance the driver's presence with different takes and variations of the logo across merchandise releases.
